“There are only a few women and persons with disabilities in innovation, so being a part of TUKLAS Innovation Labs is a big opportunity,” says Lolita Gelle, a woman innovator with disability.

“Women are greatly affected by disasters. This makes women innovators important since they represent the ideas and needs of women.”

Less than 30% of people in science, technology, and innovation are women (OECD, 2017).
The Philippines TUKLAS Innovation Labs strive to provide opportunities for women from all walks of life to become innovators. Today, women with disabilities, indigenous women, women farmers, and girl students are just some of the selected innovators of TUKLAS.
“Being an innovator gives me the opportunity to prove that women and persons with disabilities can be innovators and lead an innovative project,” Lolita adds.
We honor the strength and resilience of women who break stereotypes to become innovators. Happy International Women’s Day!
